If you're familiar with the KINGMAX brand, you will most often, and most likely associate them with flash memory that goes into your mobile phone and cameras, as well as DRAM memory modules that goes into your computer. Well, KINGMAX is still about memory, after all, why would they abandon their specialty? We've visited our Sponsor for this year's Computex 2010 coverage and checked out why they're more than about memory, and what sort of innovation they're doing to drive up their reputation and keep with their passion for quality products.
We won't bore you with a textual account of another memory-oriented booth, so if you want to check out what they've got, we've recorded a video showing what KINGMAX has to offer to date. We've spotted several interesting products at their booth, and since their thumb drives are already a given, we've taken the liberty of picking 5 of our favorite product families and developments we found at their booth:
If you're looking for professional grade memory cards, KINGMAX also has them. Showcased at their booth are their Speed Master line of Compact Flash cards. Both are 32GB in size but two speed ratings are offered: one at 300x and another at 600x. Starting from 200x to 600x, they've got high capcity Compact Flashes in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB flavors.
They've also high capacity SDHC cards at 32GB, and these are perfect for HD camcorders and video recorders since they're Class 10 already.

And in case you're looking for something that can survive the hazards of water, they also have water proof versions of their high capacity SD cards.
If you didn't know about this, well now you do, KINGMAX does have their own line of SSD hard drive products. They're available in 2.5-inch, 1.8-inch and eSATA portable thumbdrive formats. Their 2.5-inch SSDs are available from 32GB to 256GB in capacities and have a maximum read and write rate of 150MB and 80MB per second respectively. Their plug and play eSATA flash drives come from 32GB to 64GB in capacities (which is still pending in the executive's desk for his final decision), and offers maximum read and write speeds of 75MB and 25MB per second rates. This also has mini-USB port at the other end, too.
These aren't your cheap replacement batteries also known as Class A or repackaged models we find in our street markets. KINGMAX has recently entered the business of batteries and is providing several for several popular models, especially in the world of Smart Phones where original batteries are more expensive. They've got Blackberry's 9500, 9000, and 8300 battery models covered, Samsung's M8910, i8910, and i8000 models, Sony Ericsson's BST33 and 38 batteries, and Nokia's BP-4L, BL-4U, and BL-5C battery models. There are plenty more offered for Nokia models, such as the BL-4C, BL-5M, BL-5J, BP-6M, and BL-64.
We asked KINGMAX straight about the negative perception of users on third party batteries due to their unreliability, and they've assured us that the batteries they have for smartphones are of very high quality. KINGMAX tells us that they are very picky about their supplier's batteries, and while these do come from Japanese manufacturers, they promise these will not explode on consumers because KINGMAX has made sure they're installed with safety features - such as the anti-gas mixture release vent and PCM AND PPTC double IC protection. The batteries are also covered with a 1 year warranty and to up the ante, KINGMAX has a product liability insurance of US $3 million. How's that for confidence?
Believe it or not, KINGMAX is into batteries, and namely auxilliary batteries for Apple's iPhones and iPods. They've got two models - one that works with the iPod and the iPhone - the iPhone Power, and one that is specifically designed to work with the iPhone 3G and 3GS - the iPhone Power Case. These should already be available in the country for quite some time already. The iPhone battery's interesting in that it works as a sleeve and doubles as your iPhone protector and grip. KINGMAX says with one of these on, it can easily double your iPhone's battery life and not to mention lengthen the life of your phone's battery. This works by charging the phone on the fly and consuming what's on the sleeve first rather than the internal battery. It's just 70 grams in weight and its battery is Lithium Polymer based with a power capacity of 1,500mAh, which gives you an extra standby time of up to 270 hours. Just don't forget to charge our iPhone.
The other iPhone power can be used while the iPhone or iPod's turned on, but it seems better as an auxiliary power source for the device. It's got a USB cable built-in for and can be directly charged from any USB power source such as a charger or computer. There are 4 LED lights indicating how much power it has left. This has a 1000mAh capacity and is compatible with the iPhone 3G/3GS, iPhone, iPod classic, touch, nano 3G, video, nano 2G, and the like.

Where are some of the other batteries you say? BlackBerry and HTC batteries should be ready for the market by the second quarter of this year, and Samsung i-series batteries should be out by the third quarter.
Unlike its competitors, KINGMAX is a relatively quiet brand doing its own thing. During our visit to their booth however, we noticed two conspicuous computers set up running with digital thermometers. These were stuck to two systems each loaded with specific Kingmax memory sticks - one using the new Nano Cooling Technology, and the other using Kingmax's Hercules line. Both sticks were DDR3's running on 2200MHz, and what we've noticed is that the ones with the Nano Cooling Technology and without the conventional heatsink cooling solution is lower in temperature by almost if not a little more than 2 degrees celsius! KINGMAX obviously has something here that can revolutionize the way memory for PCs and other devices will be cooled.
According to Kingmax's President, the Nano Cooling Technology is a special mixture involving a special concoction of chemicals that's applied to the top surface of the memory modules. If one looks at a memory module cooled with this technology, one wouldn't notice too much of a difference as compared to a bare naked model that's running on standard specs. The interesting part about this cooling technology is how effective even if the given memory stick's already overclocked pretty high up there already.
KINGMAX memory products are available in the country. For memory modules, there's Asian Technologies distributing it to their partners, and as for mobile phone batteries and the iPhone Power Case (not sure about the latter), we've spotted them at CD-R King for some time now so if you're looking for those, that's one place to start at.
And there you have it, a quick visual tour of KINGMAX, HyperGear's Sponsor for this year's Computex Trade Show and Exhibition at Taipei, Taiwan. We would like to again thank them for the opportunity to cover this yet another grand event over at this side of the globe.
