Sony has finally unveiled the world's smallest and interchangeable lens camera during their launch last July 8, 2010 at the Sofitel Plaza with the NEX-5 and NEX-3 series.
Sony Philippines announced its very first ultra-compact, interchangeable lens system digital camera – the NEX-5, also currently the smallest and lightest camera to date. The NEX series allows users to take gorgeous DSLR quality photos with its new 14.2-megapixel Exmor APS-C HD CMOS image sensor and Full HD 1080i videos in AVCHD or MP4 format, regardless of whether they are amateur or professional photographers and hobbyists.
The Exmor APS HD CMOS Sensor boasts a 14.2 megapixel high resolution and offers fine gradation and color, and is 15.7 times bigger than a compact camera's sensor, minimizing noise.
It is also the first compact camera with interchangeable lens to offer HD recording, with 1920 x 1080 full HD image quality in AVCHD format.
The NEX series also offers a full 3D sweep panorama; seamlessly stitching together a series of photos for a single panoramic image that can be viewed in 3D in any compatible 3D supported screen, such as the Sony BRAVIA.
An interactive user interface also ensures effortless navigation. Shooting, drive and flash modes are just as easy to access by just rotating through the control wheel, along with exposure settings and other camera settings.
To date, only the NEX-5 is currently available in the Philippines. A standard kit with the standard 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens is priced at PhP 37,999. For more information, go to http://www.sony-asia.com/NEX
